CubaMedic organizes medical study trips to Cuba, accompanies students and professionals who are doing internships in Cuba and teaches medical Spanish. In the special Cuban care system, the focus is on prevention. The role of the community in preventing illness, caring for and curing the sick is great. They approach the health of Cubans in a holistic way.
CubaMedic is run by Niubel Díaz Padilla. Díaz Padilla is trained as a doctor in both Cuba and the Netherlands. She obtained her PhD in the Netherlands and worked as a doctor. In order to spread the ideas of Cuban healthcare in the Netherlands, Díaz Padilla also gives presentations at national conferences on.b public health and universities in addition to her work for CubaMedic.
Dr Niubel Díaz Padilla
I was born in Havana in 1966 and I graduated as a cum laude doctor from the University of Medicine of Havana in 1990. I completed the specialty of Clinical Biochemistry, graduating in 1995. From 1990 to 1998 I worked as a researcher in the Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) in Havana. Later as part of a joint project with the National Institute of Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC), I received a scholarship from the Royal Society of Medicine to work in this center in the United Kingdom.
I moved to the Netherlands in 1998. In order to revalidate my medical degree, I studied 3 years at the medical university of Utrecht and in 2007 I graduated as a doctor in Holland. In 2007 I also obtained the PhD title. I have worked as a senior donor doctor in Sanquin since 2010, and in 2016 I obtained a donor doctor specialization profile KNMG.
